The 2023 Katsina State audit report has revealed alleged financial misconduct by a former director of finance at the Katsina State Independent Electoral Commission, Aliyu Abubakar.
Abubakar reportedly withdrew N511.8 million in cash without corresponding value and transferred N34.4 million without a trace. The case is pending with the State’s attorney general.
The report also flagged other irregularities, including: An outstanding N203 million owed by 14 university staff sponsored for studies but yet to refund their bonds.
Also, a stalled N1.99 billion contract awarded to Kaibo International Nigeria Limited in 2016, with N796.7 million advanced but minimal progress made.
Efforts to recover the remaining N213 million advance payment have been unsuccessful.
